Created by a Belgian instrument maker, the newly-made saxophone found its first home in France in the 1840s. The very first pieces for the saxophone were written by French composers and to this day the saxophone has a solid presence within French music. Classical saxophonist Maureen Walsh will be performing both original works for the saxophone, such as the beautifully lush Rhapsodie by Claude Debussy, as well as arrangements which were created by historically significant saxophonists such as the charming piece Histoires by Jacques Ibert. Come spend an afternoon immersed in the gentler side of the saxophone!

Ms. Walsh will be joined by the superb pianist Chewon Park, a D.M.A. student at the University of Maryland.

This performance is free, and all are welcome. Donations will be accepted to support the Ann Webb Pastor’s Benevolence Fund to help those in need in the Greater Richmond community.

This afternoon's program will be performed live on the Grace Recital series in Richmond VA. The locations is:

Grace Baptist Church

4200 Dover Road

Richmond, Va 23221
